My practice is devoted to working with children, adolescents and adults to help them deal with difficulties in their relationships and in their personal lives.

Problems in work, in relationships and within families happen to all of us…when is it time to seek professional assistance?

  • Changes in behavior (eating, sleeping, mood swings, crying)
  • Unable to function as usual, affecting job, family, daily activities or the ability to concentrate
  • Difficulty solving the problem by yourself
  • Depression, anxiety, sadness, unhappiness
  • Don’t know who to talk to about a personal issue
  • Feeling out of control, overwhelmed, lost or stressed out

Teens, Children and Families:
My work with children and adolescents focuses on helping to restore healthy relationships and improving the child’s quality of life.  I am well versed in helping children and adolescents who are having problems in school, at home or with friends. I use various therapeutic methods, including play therapy, art therapy and talk therapy.  These techniques and approaches help children to express their frustrations, anger, difficulties and anxieties.  Psychotherapy can help your child/teen develop new coping strategies and assist parents with ways to support your child.

How does a parent determine when to seek professional assistance for their child or teenager?

  • Exhibiting irritability, mood swings and other strong emotional reactions that seem to be out of proportion to the situation
  • Defiance, refusing to follow rules, yelling, talking back, or acting as if they do not care about punishments or consequences for their behavior
  • Decline in grades
  • Disruptive behaviors at home or school
  • Acting out behaviors such as hitting or fighting
  • Isolating, withdrawing socially or difficulty getting along with peers/adults
  • Feelings of hopelessness and despair
  • Change in eating or sleeping habits
  • Anxiousness and/or fidgety behavior
  • Difficulty coping with life stressors, a significant loss or a recent trauma.  Psychotherapy can help your child/teen develop new coping strategies and assist parents with ways to support your child
  • In more severe cases, your child or teen may have thoughts about not wanting to live or about hurting themselves, or they may have tried to hurt themselves.
